Summary
To train military and civilian personnel in the safe use of various equipment, chemicals and regulations to enable them to complete their specific role.
Job description
Adapting the course as required to suit an individual’s learning style and needs.
An awareness of the environment and all of the inherent dangers associated with Liquid Oxygen to ensure the safety of unqualified students.
The ability to understand complex technical drawings and information extracted from the relevant Air Publications and Defence Standards.
Person specification
- Train military and civilian personnel to required standards.
- Supervise DECA apprentices in a workshop environment obtaining training material and equipment to further their development.
- Deliver courses to DECA personnel ensuring that mandatory qualifications remain current.
- Be a technical point of contact for Project Teams and military personnel helping to resolve issues regarding the equipment used in Cryogenics.
- Production and maintenance of training media.
- Continual internal review of syllabus.
- Preparation of materials and equipment ready for course delivery.
- Management of student welfare.
- Maintaining standards and discipline of students.
- Planning and co-ordinating training resources for course delivery and ensuring that equipment is serviceable.
- Controlling and implementing methods of student assessment.
- Control and maintenance of student records.
- Issue course certificates as required, write course reports for the students’ first reporting officer and ensure that the appropriate qualification is entered on the students training record.
- Ensure that the following years courses are planned in good time so that they can be disseminated.
- Ensure that other instructors are available as required to supplement and assist in the delivery of CGMS courses.
- Implementation of all DECA policies and procedures.
- Act as building custodian on behalf of the customer services manager.(secondary duty)
- Ensure course documentation is completed in a timely manner and forwarded to the student’s Line Manager.
- Liaise with Apprentices College to ensure they are up to date with NVQ’s & other college work.
- Act as a point of contact for course development project.

Essential Criteria:
- Knowledge of the safe operation of Cryogenic Equipment in challenging environments.
- Experience of creating PowerPoint presentations enabling the development of new and current courses as required.
- An instructional qualification is required to train military personnel ensuring that the correct learning environment is achieved.
- An awareness of the environment and all of the inherent dangers associated with Liquid Oxygen to ensure the safety of unqualified students.
- The ability to understand complex technical drawings and information extracted from the relevant Air Publications and Defence Standards.
- Knowledge of the Military Ground support equipment is required.
- Knowledge of and demonstrable understanding of individual learning styles.
