Collaborate to Innovate with MBDA

If you think your business has what the Defence industry needs, join us at OpTIC St Asaph on Wednesday 12th June.

As a global player in the defence sector, MBDA is part of some of the sector’s most cutting-edge programmes. High-profile examples include the DragonFire laser directed energy weapon and the Storm Shadow cruise missile. MBDA is also involved in two sixth-generation fighter programmes – including the UK’s Tempest.

It is the first time the company has embarked on such an activity, so it is partnering with ADS Northern Ireland, ADS Scotland and Aerospace Wales, using their local knowledge and contacts to maximise an opportunity for member companies to discuss what future opportunities may exist to work together or become part of a supply chain nationally or even globally.

Through collaboration, MBDA always seeks to build partnerships that deliver innovation and technical excellence. It works with like-minded companies, SMEs and start-ups to identify the latest and future technologies. In this way, MBDA seeks to build lasting relationships that enhance the military capabilities of its customers, both at home and with their allies, protecting their sovereignty.

Leading the company’s delegation to the events is Simon Wadey, MBDA’s Open Innovation Lead, who says:

Over the past few years, our approach as a company has been to make ourselves available at major defence exhibitions for meetings with potential partners or suppliers.  However, we recognise that not every business can attend such events. We don’t want to miss out on the potential we believe exists across the UK and beyond our established bases, so we are going out and looking for it.  That’s why we’re partnering with ADS Northern Ireland, ADS Scotland and Aerospace Wales to come and meet you. We want to meet any business that believes their work is novel or hi-tech. Businesses that are forward-thinking and aspiring to that. Or those that are expanding their business plan and looking to grow further.  Not just SMEs, but research and technology departments of larger companies. Or small start-ups and commercial laboratories. We’re open to the unconventional. Even if your businesses has never worked in defence before, it may provide an opportunity to expand it nationally or even internationally.”

Alongside meet the buyer type time slots with MBDA, the event will also include speakers from the Defence sector, including DTEP, to give you further details on potential funding packages available to you.
