About the job

Summary

The main tasks and responsibilities of the post are:-
Working as part of a team or alone in the field maintaining, repairing and modifying airborne surveillance systems for multiple international entities including UK MOD, NPAS, most European police/Coast guard agencies and multiple commercial companies (Babcock, CAE, Leonardo etc.)

Job description

1. Providing onsite support at short notice (24 hours) within the UK and Europe. This can involve pre and post telephone/email support ongoing.
2. Prepare estimates for customers and liaising with the OEM (L-3 Wescam) via a bi-weekly conference to discuss details and plan work schedules.
3. Responsible for maintaining all relevant paperwork and updating both DECA and the OEM ERPLN systems, creating NCR’s, Technical reports, expenses and spares management.
4. Responsible for the update and control of the OEM ‘Team Centre’ technical documentation system.
5. Testing, red lining and creating new procedures for the OEM to be rolled out subject to approval.
6. Carry out ad-hoc investigations for the OEM to determine fault trends, modifications and latest software revision testing.
7. Ensuring all work undertaken follows the relevant procedures, specified Approved Source Information (ASI) as well as DECA business systems. Ensure work complies with all statutory COSHH, health, safety and environmental protection instructions.
8. Work in accordance with Maintenance Approved Organisation Scheme (MAOS), ensuring that the correct authorisations are held and kept current Job Title: WESCAM EO/IR IMAGING SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN Department: L-3HARRIS (WESCAM)
9. Tool control; from basic tool management to the STTE supplied to us and owned by the OEM that require regular and scheduled maintenance.
10. GPC finance management (expenses), reconciliation and recording statements on a monthly basis.
11. Assisting colleagues/apprentices, sharing experience and knowledge and providing on the job training. Giving constructive feedback to colleagues about ensuring airworthiness and best practice.
12. Understanding and complying with statutory, quality and organisational requirements for aviation, including safety, documentation, occupational health and safety in an aviation environment.

Skills and Experiences

Essential criteria:
• A recognised relevant engineering apprenticeship and electrical/electronic vocational qualification.
• A form of recognised ‘working with high pressure gas’ course or be willing to work towards.
• A laser safety or laser safety officer course is required or to work towards this qualification.

Desirable:
• A working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. (Word, Excel etc.)
