Undergraduate (BEng) and Postgraduate (MSc) degrees accredited by the Professional Engineering Institutions (EI Energy Institute, IET Institution of Engineering and Technology, IMechE Institution of Mechanical Engineers, InstMC Institute of Measurement and Control, RAeS Royal Aeronautical Society). We also offer 1-year Masters in MSc Engineering.

Glyndwr University also offer part time PhD and MPhil opportunities in partnership with local, national and international industry with research being undertaken in Composites, Industry 4.0, UAV technology and electrical power systems.

Located in north east Wales, close to the cities of Chester, Liverpool and Manchester, Wrexham Glyndŵr University has around 6,000 students on a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Our Engineering specialisations include Aeronautical, Automotive, Composites, Electrical and Electronic, Mechanical, Industrial, Renewable and Sustainable Engineering.

Our industry-led courses provide links with leading employers ensuring that out students are provided with the most relevant skills for their future career. We also offer a range of Degree Apprenticeships in Industrial Design (mechanical and electrical routes), Production Engineering and Low Carbon Energy, Efficiency and Sustainability enabling companies in Wales to gain a highly-skilled employee with both the academic qualifications and the relevant practical skills to enhance their workforce either by upskilling an existing employee or recruiting new talent to their business. Part time study can also be undertaken as a Foundation Degree in Industrial Engineering)

The delivery of teaching and learning is underpinned by consultancy and research projects with a network of local and national organisations.

Key equipment and processes:

  • Main campus houses teaching and research facilities for Engineering including a fully equipped PLC suite, Automotive engineering laboratory, CNC and hand skills workshop, a state of the art flight simulator and a newly developed 3D printing and scanning laboratory.
  • The Advanced Composite Training and Development Centre at Hawarden Industrial Park in Broughton is a partnership between Glyndŵr University, Airbus, and the Welsh Government helping to train thousands of Airbus employees and apprentices to develop their composite manufacturing skills which are vital to the aerospace industry.
    Research is targeted at developing faster manufacturing and processing techniques for composite materials which will help to meet future demand for aircraft and composites in general.
  • Our site at St Asaph is a cutting-edge research centre for the opto-electronics technology industry and houses our pioneering project producing prototype mirrors for the world’s largest telescope. Based on St Asaph Business Park, on the North Wales coast this facility brings together the university and industry worlds. Its modern facilities for conferences, exhibitions, seminars, training and meetings are available for hire by outside organisations and the building also contains science laboratories and research facilities.
